The iconic Equatorial Plaza in Kuala Lumpur has added another feather to its cap with the Green Building Index (GBI) Gold certification, making EQ the first hotel in Kuala Lumpur to receive such recognition.
EQ is the latest chapter in the legacy of one of Kuala Lumpur’s most well-known hospitality names. The original Hotel Equatorial was established in 1973 and quickly gained its reputation as a premier five-star destination. However, in 2012, the hotel was closed down for redevelopment, and in March 2019, EQ was opened to the public, promising to offer a bigger, better, and all-new successor.
The 52-storey tower stands tall in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle and is the centrepiece of Equatorial Plaza. It boasts 440 guestrooms and suites with opulent amenities and stunning city views from every angle. Its proximity to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre makes it the preferred hotel for attendees. The hotel also has ten meeting and banquet rooms, along with the unique 1,025 SQM Diamond Ballroom and Gallery, making it ideal for hosting events of all sizes.
Sanctum Wellness on level 29 is an entire floor dedicated to fitness and wellness, including a gym, spa, a 25-meter infinity pool, a large vitality pool, a Himalayan salt sauna, and an aromatherapy steam room. On the 51st floor, Sky51 features Sabayon, a restaurant that serves contemporary European cuisine, and Blue, an open-air rooftop bar and lounge.
With its commitment to sustainable practices and exceptional hospitality, EQ is a testament to Kuala Lumpur’s vibrant tourism industry and its status as a world-class destination.
Since its debut in 2019, the hotel’s strategy to create new hospitality standards has proven to be the most rewarding. Notable accolades include:
