Wine history was made the same year Hotel Equatorial announced its redevelopment plans that birthed the award-winning EQ. In France, the 2012 growing season was beset by extreme weather that jeopardised the harvest, only to culminate in one of the most exceptional wines of the century.
Both companies have faced many challenges and emerged on the other side stronger. Equatorial made its debut in Malaysia in 1973, and to commemorate this significant milestone and celebrate its 50th-anniversary, the hotel group collaborated with Barons de Rothschild to give EQ the Malaysian exclusivity of the Rare Collection Blanc de Blancs Vintage 2012. The two hundred and forty Grand Cru bottles for Malaysia will only be available at EQ to mark this Golden Anniversary.
Each bottle is presented in an exclusive dark-grained wood box, embossed with the coat of arms of the Barons de Rothschild. A raised engraved metal plate denotes the vintage and year, with the 50th anniversary logo adorning the top of the case.
