EQ CELEBRATES WORLD SAKE DAY TO HONOUR THE CRAFTMANSHIP OF MASTER BREWERS

2-STAR MICHELIN CHEF CELEBRATES FRENCH CUISINE

The Malaysian Insight, Kuala Lumpur, 8 June 2024 – Dilling is from the two Michelin-star restaurant named after himself in London. He is in EQ Kuala Lumpur for a culinary showcase, from now till June 15. Hunter chicken is the chef’s signature dish, his refined take on chicken cacciatore, a classic Italian dish. “Cacciatore” comes from the Italian word for hunter, believed to have originated with Italian hunters preparing chicken over an open fire with the ingredients they had on hand. Dilling’s famed hunter chicken is covered with a thin, stripey layer of blended chicken mousse, and another of mushroom duxelle, almost like a beef Wellington, then finished with sauce albufera. It’s an intensely flavoured, dark, rich meat sauce that delivers the winning touch to the chicken. Hunter chicken was served with a delightful pomme purée and salad with a lemony dressing. Travel Mishmash – On top of my list features Étoile. This café is so great that I also toyed with the idea of devoting one whole post to this and only spot. No kidding, it really is that awesome. Clearly this is an incredible fresh starter on the KL’s café and dining scene and for all the good reasons. So what’s the charm that other places don’t have? Despite a certain degree of fanciness – and trust me I don’t indulge in fancy stuff – it’s just the way Étoile wraps it in an amazing elegance, which is unpretentious, unobtrusive and genuinely welcoming. You won’t feel inadequate here. This new star in KL dining is simply nonchalantly unique. In addition, leaving the beautiful decor and tastefully designed space aside, you can’t but notice the professionalism of the staff which I haven’t encountered anywhere else in Malaysia nor KL in the entire 6 years of my existence here. REVIEW: CHEF IGARASHI’S SUSHI OMAKASE AT KAMPACHI EQ

Buro 24/7 – Kampachi first opened its doors in 1974 at Hotel Equatorial—which you may now recognise as the recently-revamped EQ—and has remained a pioneer of authentic Japanese cuisine in Malaysia ever since. The restaurant has built its sparkling reputation on its commitment to quality, serving only the finest air-flown ingredients in each dish at the hands of their team of Tokyo-trained chefs. The latest addition to the team is none other than Mr Kyohei Igarashi, the restaurant’s newest Sushi Master.
